After growing up in North Vancouver, Emma attended Queen’s University in Kingston to complete her undergraduate degree with Honours in Life Science and Health Studies (2018). During this time, Emma developed a passion for climbing and looking at health from a person first perspective. Post-graduation, Emma took a year away from school, living in Squamish and travelling. Emma then moved to Oxford, UK for her Master’s in Physiotherapy, graduating in 2021 from Oxford Brookes University with Distinction. Her dissertation focused on the injury experiences of both adventure and traditional athletes partaking in international level sport.

While in the UK, Emma developed a love for fell/trail running, and ultramarathons. Through this process, Emma gained a lot of insight into the many ups and downs of injuries, and loves to work with people to help get back to what they love most! Emma loves to combine her experience of working as a personal trainer, and physiotherapist to help people become more resilient after injury. She believes in a multimodal approach, focusing on the individual needs of the patient, communication, and education.

Emma has a wide range of experience having worked in both hospitals and private practice. After graduation, Emma spent some time living in Scotland where she first worked in a treatment center working with injured first responders with a range of sporting, musculoskeletal and neurological injuries. She also worked at a private practice in Glasgow treating people with a variety of sport and non-sport related injuries (such as post-car accident). Emma has experience working with active populations in mountain towns, and understands how important it is for people to be able to continue to pursue their passions, whatever they may be!

Emma is always striving to continue her education, and has certificates in sports massage, as well as FMS Level 1. She will continue taking new courses and pursuing knowledge in her areas of interest.

My main focus into my early twenties was gymnastics, and I competed at a national level for eight years. This sparked my interest in biomechanics, and ultimately Physiotherapy as I spent a fair bit of time as a patient.

Since then, I have worked in a variety of clinics in Auckland, Vancouver, and for most of the last fourteen years the Sea to Sky corridor. I have worked with a wide variety of patients from Olympic gold medalists, to non- athletes and I enjoy the variety.

Pat McKinnon is an orthopaedic physiotherapist and Certified Gunn IMS practitioner who has been practicing throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor since 2008.

Hailing from the majestic foothills of Calgary, Alberta, Pat graduated with distinction with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree from the University of Calgary in 2000. After spending the next few years immersing himself in the idyllic mountain culture of the Canadian Rockies, Pat decided to put all of his hard learned education to good use, so he moved to the west coast to complete his Masters of Physical Therapy degree at the University of British Columbia. Upon graduation in 2007, Pat promptly traded his boutique urban Kitsilano existence for the recreational paradise of the Sea to Sky Corridor, where he’s been practicing and living the dream ever since. He never intended for it to be a permanent move, but you know how that story goes…

A devoted practitioner, Pat greatly values working collaboratively with his clients, taking the time to to assess and treat their specific injury needs in a private, one-on-one clinical setting. He uses a variety of hands-on manual therapy techniques, in conjunction with individualized exercise prescription and focused re-training of dysfunctional movement patterns, in order to assist each client with achieving their personal rehabilitation goals.

Pat has post-graduate certifications in IMS and Active Release Techniques (ART), and has completed the Level 3 manual therapy curriculum through the Canadian Orthopaedic Division. He has a special interest in shoulder injuries and post-operative rehabilitation, but he is generally fascinated by the mind-blowing neuromuscular workings of the entire human body, and has undertaken extensive coursework targeting all of the major musculoskeletal regions.

When he’s not in the clinic, Pat is a borderline obsessive freeride snowboarding enthusiast, both on the resort and in the backcountry. He also enjoys pedalling trails, climbing mountains, surfing waves, eating tacos, and not-so-secretly rocking out to sweet ‘80s hair metal jams.

I grew up in the prairie town of Saskatoon, SK and have spent some time as a wildland firefighter and in bike sales and mechanics before landing in Vernon, BC to attend the Okanagan Valley College of Massage Therapy in 2019. I was moved to pursue a career in healthcare and rehabilitation after over 12 years focusing on competition in long track speed skating and road cycling.

I think soft tissue therapy can play a very valuable role in the management of chronic pain, facilitation of recovery from injury, and addressing nervous system dysregulation from stress or trauma. I chose this field because I hold a deep appreciation for feeling well in your body and the quality it brings to life. I try my best to offer the most efficient and effective care for each client, and this often involves spending some time re-educating body awareness and movement. Given the opportunity, I love talking about the ‘why’ behind the pain or other sensations we may feel in our bodies.

I have been enjoying different forms of movement for a long time, and I currently enjoy rock climbing, skiing, trail running, and lots of dog walks. I’m always poking away at learning new things and love to talk podcasts, books and courses.

I offer Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM) which is helpful for muscular condition such as tennis/golfer’s elbow, rotator cuff and other muscle strains or injuries.

Chris’ journey to becoming a physiotherapist began in high school when his own injuries from the basketball court led him to the physio clinic. He was instantly drawn to a profession that allowed him to blend his desire to connect with people with a passion for health and exercise. This led him to the University of Alberta to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology (2012) followed by a Master of Science in Physiotherapy (2016), taking some time in between degrees to work in the fitness industry and travel. He appreciates having a career that gives him the opportunity to guide others on the path to better health and performance. He enjoys the challenge of analyzing movement biomechanics, finding dysfunctions and solutions. His passion for exercise is reflected in a treatment style that focuses on optimizing strength, mobility, and quality of movement through appropriate exercise prescription. In addition, Chris uses dry needling, acupuncture, joint manipulation, and soft tissue techniques to provide the best possible outcomes for his patients. He has a special interest in sport injuries and loves working with athletes of all abilities anywhere on the spectrum from injury prevention to rehabilitation to sport performance.
